Ever wonder what the heck to do with our Red Hard Wheat besides grind it up and make bread? Here is an idea or two for ya-
I take 2 cups of wheat and put it in my crock pot with 3 cups of water to start with. I add brown sugar, butter and a little salt. Let it cook, it will puff up into what's called a wheat berry.
I serve it for breakfast. Then I will take a cup and use it for my minestrone soup, it also goes in my chicken salad recipe!
But this is just one way you can make a easy, healthy, cheap meal and make it stretch. "I like that kind " (that was for you lynsi)
